General Questions

Customers often want to know where our products are made, what materials we use, and how long they’re built to last. This section covers the essentials behind our manufacturing, construction, and quality standards — so you know exactly what you’re getting when you invest in an Inspired Overland rooftop tent.

Designs, materials, and specifications are subject to change without notice as we continue to improve our products. Inspired Overland, LLC is not responsible for outdated product information listed by third-party retailers or resellers.

What does your warranty cover?

All Inspired Overland rooftop tents are backed by our limited manufacturer’s warranty, which covers defects in materials and workmanship. Environmental factors, misuse, or neglect are not covered. For full details, including coverage terms and how to file a claim, please visit our Warranty Page.

Where are your rooftop tents manufactured?

Our rooftop tents are primarily manufactured in Vietnam, with select components produced in China. Unlike most brands, Inspired Overland owns all of its factories outright, giving us complete control over design, materials, and quality assurance from start to finish. This vertical ownership ensures every product meets our standards before leaving the production line.

What materials do you use in your tents?

Our Standard, XL, and Trailpeak models feature a PVC tonneau-style vinyl top, designed for durability, UV resistance, and easy maintenance.

Our Carbonlite, Carbonlite-X, and Stargazer models use carbon fiber and acrylic for a lighter, more rigid shell with modern styling. All hardware is stainless steel or aluminum to resist corrosion over years of use.

Does your rooftop tent have a floor?

All of our rooftop tents use crossbars instead of a traditional floor panel. This design reduces weight while maintaining rigidity and support.

Can water get into the tent through the canvas or bottom?

No. The tent body is constructed as one continuous, sealed unit, meaning water cannot enter through the fabric or seams. The bottom of the tent uses a crossbar support system rather than a traditional floor, which may appear open from below, but the sleeping area itself is fully enclosed and weather-sealed. The design keeps weight low while maintaining complete protection from rain and moisture.

What makes your tents lighter than others?

We replace heavy fiberglass and steel components with carbon fiber, aluminum, and PVC-based materials. This keeps our tents strong and durable while dramatically reducing total weight — making installation easier and expanding vehicle compatibility.

What is the expected lifespan of your rooftop tent?

With proper care and storage, our tents are designed to last 8–10 years or more. Regular cleaning, ventilation, and use of a protective cover will extend their lifespan. Environmental factors such as UV exposure, humidity, and storage conditions will have the greatest effect over time.

Are your tents waterproof?

Yes. All of our tents are built with waterproof fabrics, sealed seams, and weather-resistant shells to withstand heavy rain and wind. For best performance, keep at least one vent cracked open to minimize internal condensation during wet or humid conditions.

Are replacement parts available?

Yes. We stock replacement parts for all current and legacy models, including gas struts, covers, mounting hardware, seals, and hinges. Contact our support team with your model name, and we’ll help you source exactly what you need.

Camping Conditions & Safety

Camping at elevation or in extreme weather introduces unique challenges that every rooftop tent owner should understand. Proper ventilation and safe heating practices are critical, especially at high altitudes where oxygen levels drop and temperatures fluctuate. This section covers the essentials for staying safe, comfortable, and prepared—no matter where your adventure takes you.

Disclaimer
Users are responsible for safe operation and proper ventilation of their rooftop tent. Environmental factors such as weather, altitude, and temperature are beyond Inspired Overland’s control. Inspired Overland, LLC is not liable for injury, damage, or loss caused by misuse, negligence, or unsafe conditions.

Can I fully close my tent in cold weather or at high altitude?

No. Do not sleep with your tent fully sealed. A completely closed tent restricts airflow and can lead to oxygen depletion or carbon dioxide buildup, especially at high elevations. Always keep at least one vent or window partially open to allow for safe air circulation. Failure to do so can result in unsafe conditions and is considered user negligence.

How much ventilation do I need in cold conditions?

Even in freezing temperatures, proper ventilation is required for safe use. At least one vent or small window must remain partially open to ensure a consistent exchange of air. This reduces the risk of oxygen restriction and minimizes condensation. Inspired Overland is not responsible for any health issues or damage resulting from improper ventilation or sealed operation.

Is it safe to use a diesel heater or any heat source inside the tent?

Only external diesel heaters that deliver clean, dry air through an intake hose are suitable for use with rooftop tents.

Never operate open-flame heaters, propane burners, or any device producing combustion gases inside the tent. These can release carbon monoxide and pose serious health risks.

Inspired Overland is not liable for injury, illness, or damage resulting from the misuse or improper setup of any heating equipment.

What should I do if I feel lightheaded or short of breath while in the tent?

Exit the tent immediately and move into open air. Open all vents and windows to restore airflow. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention immediately.

Is it safe to camp in strong winds, heavy rain, or snow?

Our rooftop tents are designed for year-round durability but are not intended for use in extreme or life-threatening weather conditions.

If high winds, lightning, or heavy snow are expected, pack down or close the tent to avoid damage.

Users assume all responsibility for weather-related use and agree that Inspired Overland is not liable for injury, damage, or loss caused by environmental factors.

Understanding and Managing Condensation

Condensation is a normal part of camping — it happens when warm air inside your tent meets cooler surfaces like the shell or fabric. The key is managing airflow. By keeping your tent well-ventilated, using a diesel heater to introduce warm, dry air, and running a small fan to circulate air toward an open window or vent, you can drastically reduce moisture buildup and keep your sleeping area dry and comfortable throughout the night.

What is condensation and why does it happen?

Condensation happens when warm, humid air meets a cooler surface — like the roof or walls of your tent. Whether it’s a rooftop tent or a ground tent, the small enclosed space traps moisture from your breath and body heat. When two people are inside breathing all night, that warm, moist air has nowhere to go, and in cooler or humid conditions, it collects as droplets on the interior surfaces. This is completely normal and can happen with any tent, regardless of brand or material.

Is condensation a defect?

No. Condensation is a natural environmental effect, not a defect or warranty issue. Even premium rooftop tents from leading brands can experience condensation depending on weather conditions, humidity levels, and ventilation.

How do I prevent condensation?

Condensation can’t be fully eliminated, but it can be controlled.

Here are a few proven methods:

Ventilate properly. Always keep at least one vent or window slightly open to allow humid air to escape. Cross-ventilation is key.

Use a diesel heater. A diesel heater introduces warm, dry air, balancing temperature and preventing moisture buildup.

Circulate air with a fan. A small portable fan helps move humid air toward a vent or window, improving airflow throughout the night.

Keep wet items outside. Avoid storing damp gear, clothing, or towels inside the tent.

Dry your tent in the morning. Wipe away any moisture and leave the tent open for a few minutes to air out before closing.

Can condensation damage my tent?

If left unmanaged, condensation can cause mildew, odors, or material degradation over time. Regularly drying out your tent, ventilating it, will help preserve its lifespan.

Is condensation covered under warranty?

No. Because condensation is a natural result of humidity and temperature changes, it’s not covered under warranty. Damage caused by trapped moisture (such as mold, mildew, or odor) is considered wear and tear resulting from user negligence, not a manufacturing defect.

Shipping & Delivery

Wondering about how we ship your gear? Find answers to common questions about shipping methods, delivery times, costs, and tracking information. We've got everything you need to know to get your order on its way to your next adventure.

For More Information, Please view our shipping policy here.

Why is shipping so expensive?

Rooftop tents are large, heavy items that must be shipped via LTL (less-than-truckload) freight rather than standard parcel carriers. Freight shipping is naturally more costly due to the size, weight, and handling required.

The amount you pay goes directly toward the freight costs themselves. We work closely with our carriers to keep rates as reasonable as possible and ensure your rooftop tent arrives safely.

How Is My Rooftop Tent Shipped?

All of our rooftop tents are shipped via LTL freight on a custom pallet measuring 93″ long x 56″ wide.

Each tent is securely boxed with protective materials. Below are the actual box dimensions for each model:

  • Standard Tent: 91.5”L x 54.5”W x 9”H
  • XL Tent: 91.5”L x 54.5”W x 9”H
  • CarbonLite Tent: 91.5”L x 54.5”W x 9”H
  • Stargazer Duo Tent: 91.5”L x 54.5”W x 9”H
  • Stargazer Solo Tent: 90”L x 41”W x 9”H

How Long Does Shipping Take?

Freight shipping can take around 5-7 business days.

What is the High Service Zone Fee?

The High Service Zone Fee is an additional charge applied to certain regions not covered by our main freight partners.

In these areas, our primary freight partners pass the shipment to a third-party carrier that specializes in servicing these specific zones. Consequently, customers are required to pay an additional fee to cover the specialized service required for these regions, in addition to the standard shipping cost.

Inspired Overland remains transparent by passing on these additional charges directly to the customer, without any markup.

Freight Delivery Instructions

Should you notice any damages to your RTT, do not sign the bill of lading and reject the shipment. We ask that you contact support@inspiredoverland.com immediately with photos of the damages, the bill of lading, and your order number so that we can promptly process a replacement tent for you.

**Please be advised that if you accept the shipment and later discover damages to your RTT, Inspired Overland WILL NOT provide a warranty or replacement for your tent. Therefore, we strongly urge all customers to thoroughly inspect their RTT upon delivery and take action if necessary to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
