Inspired Overland Shipping Policy
Please review our shipping policy before placing your order.
By completing your purchase, you agree to the terms outlined on this page.
Freight Shipping Costs
We typically charge $375 for freight shipping on rooftop tents. This is the average rate for shipping one tent on a single pallet to most major freight lanes.
However, freight carriers do not price shipments strictly by distance. LTL carriers use a lane-based pricing system, which depends on how frequently they service a specific area. Because of this, some addresses may cost more than the standard $365 freight charge, especially in rural areas, remote locations, or regions that are serviced less frequently by freight carriers.
If your delivery address falls into a higher-cost freight lane, we will contact you before shipping. We will explain any additional freight charges, provide the price difference for approval, and share the carrier's freight quote directly for full transparency.
Please note that freight quotes are time-sensitive and subject to expiration. See the Freight Quote & Invoice Validity section below for details.
Freight Quote & Invoice Validity
Freight quotes and freight invoices issued by Inspired Overland are valid for 48 hours from the date they are provided.
Freight rates are determined by third-party carriers and may fluctuate due to fuel surcharges, carrier capacity, lane demand, service availability, and other market conditions.
If a freight invoice remains unpaid after 48 hours, the quoted shipping rate will expire and the shipment must be re-quoted using current carrier pricing. Updated rates may be higher or lower than the original quoted amount.
Customers will be notified of any rate changes prior to shipment and will have the option to approve or decline the updated freight cost before fulfillment.
Delivery Address Changes, Reconsignment & Carrier Charges
Customers are responsible for providing an accurate and deliverable shipping address at the time of purchase.
Once a freight shipment has been dispatched or scheduled with the carrier, any requested delivery address changes or customer-caused delivery issues may result in additional carrier-imposed charges, including but not limited to:
- Reconsignment fees
- Delivery attempt fees
- Redelivery fees
- Storage fees
- Return-to-shipper fees
Customer-caused delivery issues include, but are not limited to:
- An incorrect or undeliverable address provided by the customer.
- Requesting a delivery address change after the shipment has been dispatched.
- The recipient being unavailable for a scheduled delivery appointment.
- Refusing delivery for reasons unrelated to shipping damage.
- Failing to provide required access information or otherwise preventing successful delivery.
These charges are determined solely by the freight carrier, vary by shipment, and are the responsibility of the customer. Inspired Overland does not determine, negotiate, or profit from these carrier-imposed charges. Inspired Overland does not mark up these charges and will provide a copy of the carrier's invoice upon request for transparency.
If Inspired Overland pays any carrier-imposed charges on the customer's behalf, the customer agrees to reimburse Inspired Overland for those charges. Any outstanding carrier charges may be invoiced before or after delivery, depending on when they are assessed by the freight carrier.
Important: Customers may not independently authorize address changes, rerouting, reconsignment, or alternate delivery instructions directly with the freight carrier without prior approval from Inspired Overland. Unauthorized changes may result in additional carrier fees and shipping delays, which remain the responsibility of the customer.
If a customer declines to pay applicable carrier-imposed charges prior to delivery, the shipment may be returned to sender and may be subject to additional return freight charges and applicable restocking fees.
Freight Delivery Conditions & Accessorial Fees
Standard freight deliveries are curbside delivery service only.
Freight carriers typically deliver the shipment to the closest safe accessible area near the delivery address. Drivers are not required to move pallets into garages, homes, backyards, driveways, or other private areas.
Any customer requests for additional freight services may result in extra carrier-imposed charges, including but not limited to:
- Inside delivery
- Garage delivery
- White glove service
- Limited access delivery
- Storage fees
- Additional labor assistance
These charges are determined by the freight carrier and will be passed directly to the customer.
Customers should not arrange or authorize additional delivery services directly with the carrier without prior approval from Inspired Overland. Unauthorized services requested by the customer remain the customer’s financial responsibility.
Inspired Overland is not responsible for carrier limitations involving driveway access, HOA restrictions, narrow streets, apartment complexes, gated communities, stair access, or unsafe delivery conditions determined by the driver.
Non-Direct Lane Locations
Certain delivery addresses fall under what carriers classify as Non-Direct Lanes. This is an industry-standard term used by all major LTL carriers.
A Non-Direct Lane means:
- The carrier does not run daily routes to that area
- The address is outside their regular service network
- The shipment may need to be transferred to a regional partner (interline carrier)
- Fewer trucks service the area, raising the carrier’s cost for that route
These factors result in an additional fee, which the carrier applies to the shipment.
If Your Address Falls Under a Non-Direct Lane
If a carrier quotes a rate higher than $365:
- We will notify you before shipping
- We will share the exact freight quotes directly from the carrier
- You can approve or decline the updated rate
- If you prefer not to proceed, we’ll issue a full refund with no penalties before fulfillment
Transparency
We do not make any money on freight shipping. We simply pass along the exact rate that carriers charge us so everything is fair, accurate, and fully transparent for our customers.
Freight Delivery & Damage Policy
We use heavy-duty packaging and custom pallets to protect your rooftop tent during transit. However, freight carriers often transfer shipments through multiple terminals, so damage can occasionally occur.
To protect your purchase, please follow these steps at the time of delivery:
- Be present when your shipment arrives.
- Inspect the packaging carefully before signing anything.
- If you see major visible damage (crushed corners, punctures, large tears). Take clear photos of the packaging and all visible damage areas. Refuse delivery and have the driver clearly write “Refused due to damage” on the BOL. Email support@inspiredoverland.com immediately with:
- Your order number
- Photos of the damage
- A photo of the BOL showing the refusal - If you accept the shipment and discover damage after opening the package, it's very important to keep all original packaging It’s very important to keep all original packaging, including the pallet, box, and internal foam or padding. Do not discard any of it.
Take detailed photos of:
- The damaged areas on the tent
- The packaging and pallet from multiple angles
Email support@inspiredoverland.com within 24 hours with all photos and your order number.
Important:
Freight carriers have a very limited window to file claims, and claims will not be approved if we cannot provide sufficient documentation showing the packaging and product damage. If you accept a shipment without noting visible damage or fail to provide proper documentation, we cannot file a claim or offer a replacement.
Inspect carefully — this ensures we can help if anything goes wrong.
Shipping Times
Freight shipping typically takes 5–7 business days once picked up from our warehouse. Tracking details are sent automatically via email when the carrier picks up your order.
If you haven’t received tracking yet, your order is still in the queue for pickup. Due to high order volumes, lead times may occasionally extend — we appreciate your patience as we continue improving our shipping process.
